Found it....

Final question - is the timing advance widget for the paid version of Torque going to provide the data for timing that we need?

turning distributor does not alter timing - this only changes the position of the rotor. Timing is based on crankshaft sensor. Torque will not display cam sensor retard (setting correct rotor position). Car Gauge Pro will.

So got it done over the weekend....EXTREMELY happy with this. Using Car Gauge Pro I was able to get it to 2 degrees and runs better than it has for years. I can only imagine the slop that old one had after 270K....

Thanks for all the help....especially with finding the app to do this.

Glad to hear things worked out well for you. When using Car Gauge Pro for cam retard on these Blazers be sure to use the cam retard PID with the double asterick (**).

Please see post no. 13 above: " Torque will not display cam sensor retard (setting correct rotor position). Car Gauge Pro will. " Question: But will Torque Pro for $4.99 display cam sensor retard ?
I am getting ready to buy the Bluetooth OBD II wifi and the Naxa 10.1" Tablet and the Torque Pro app. I know the 'Torque Pro' will do a lot of things the free 'Torque' app won't do.

I wasn't talking about the freebie version - the free versions will never do much of anything. Torque Pro is a nice app and is the most famous Andoid OBD2 app by far, but it still won't display cam sensor retard. I have both Torque Pro and Car Gauge Pro on my phone. For what they cost, I find both very useful. Which one is best depends on what you want to do. Car Gauge Pro will do more but is more difficult to use and lists tons of modules that will only work on select vehicles. If you want to do crank sensor relearn or injector balance tests or control your tranny, etc - you have to pay several hundred minimum to get something like HP Tuners or EFI Live, or Autoenginuity and run it under Windows. Either way you go for the Android, make sure you buy the BAFX Bluetooth OBD2 adapter from Amazon or you will have regrets.
