Default Smog comming up soon...

Going to have to take my truck to get smogged (it won't pass, SES light on, but i still have to pay to get it tested). I think the SES light is on because of the O2 sensor. I think that because it runs without problem EXCEPT, when i start it cold it starts right up(sometimes too quickly), but lets say i go on a road trip, turn off the car, and try to start it up again, it'll just die, or sound like the battery is low and then start to turn. I think thats the fuel pump for some reason, but i'm no mechanic. Anyone wanna throw out what they think could be either causing the SES or weird start up troubles?

I'd start by find out what code(s) are set. Autozone will do this for free.

Yah get that code read at autozone or advance auto,I think just about every autoparts store will check them for free. Fixing a problem by guessing the issue will only cost lots of $$$$.

No they won't do it for free. I've gone in there and asked at a few stores, and they tell me they don't have the right reader for the 95 since its Not OBD II and its not really OBD I...

Got it smogged. It passed everything except malfunction indicator light(i'm guessing the SES light) it says, this vehicle failed the MIL/Check engine light due to a warning lamp failure. So pretty much whatever is causing my Check engine light to be on is the reason its not passing. Can't be that bad right?

Well the state of CA has a program where you pay 100 bucks and they give you a 500 credit to get your car fixed at a state licensed place. So that should cover it...

Heres my stats

M1:15 MPH RPM: 2138 %c02: 14.6 %02 0.4 HC(PPM) 64 CO% 0.13 NO(PPM) 298
M1:25 MPH RPM: 1586 %c02: 14.7 %02 0.2 HC(PPM) 32 CO% 0.1 NO(PPM) 328

Now most everything was well below(which i'm pleased with) except for the C0% in the 15 mph test(0.13 the max is 0.62 but the average is 0.05) and the HC(PPM) also for the 15 mph test(it was 64, max 87, average 18). Anyone know what these mean exactly?
