Somebody please explain it to me
Had a good fuel pump though cheap and truck '95 Jimmy, was running; then service light came on and two weeks later the truck acted like it ran out of gas; fuel pump comes on initially and will run when jumped but only puts out 30#; how can a fuel pump work fine then not put out enough pressure to start the truck? I thought a fuel pump worked or it didn't. Will someone tell me how it loses ability to put out pressure but still run? Thanks

There are some number of segments on the commutator on the motor and two brushes which supply switched DC to those segments. To make full pressure, all commutator segments must contact the brushes at the right time while the motor is spinning. If one of the segments ceases to contact the brush, motor power output will suffer.

alot of people have this problem when they put in a cheap pump, it lasts for a couple weeks or less then boom its toast. if you replace it with an AC Delco pump you wont have this problem.

Also check your fuel filter. When I replaced my pump I also replaced my filter just in case. Sometimes its actually the Filter that is clogged and not a faulty fuel pump. Sometimes though, not always lol.

Thank you for the explanation. Checked the filter and I have flow through just really low pressure; already out of the tank and I went to the Chevy dealer down the street and apparently GM does not stock the pump and assembly. So, off to search the internet. Thank you again, makes me feel better to have a little understanding.
