Default Spark plug problem?

Hello all, I have a 97 Blazer 4 door LS. I had gotten a tune up at a regular mechanic and they told me the spider injector was bad, so I had waited a month to get it fixed. I maybe drove 600 miles between the tuneup and putting the new spider injector in. I picked it up from the mechanic and all was fine until I drove about a half mile, the service engine light started blinking and it was missing really badly. Also, when I accelerated it would be sluggish still but not as bad as when the injector was bad. I would be out running tests but I have no gas due to Hurricane Sandy hitting my area. I'm thinking something is up with the spark plugs. If the wires were plugged into the wrong spots on the cap would that cause severe misfire? I'm not the best mechanic so I apologize if these are basic level questions. Thanks for the help guys

Severe misfire, his problem. Take it back to him. If he doesn't warant his work, never use him again.

He's out for a week due to the storm and lack of gas on Long Island, he already offered to fix it but I kind of need to get to work.

Without getting the SES code read you're just shooting in the dark as to what the issue may be. AutoZone, etc will read it for free.

Default Did the mechanic install the plugs and wires?

It wouldnt only misfire but it would backfire and run very rough with hardly any power. The only way that could happen if one wire was off otherwise it wouldnt run at all.It would backfire everytime you hit the key and try to turn the engine over.BTW I feel for ya about not being able to get gas I have seen it all over the TV.I think your problem lies within your spider and fue regulator problems or possible clogged fuel filter.

I got the code read, it's cylinder 1 misfire. What puzzles me is that before I got the injector changed, 5 and 6 were misfiring. I drive for about a minute now before the SES light starts blinking. Car starts with no trouble though.

Sounds like it could be a problem with secondary ignition, (spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, ignition coil) maybe some stray sparks flying around. No big surprise with all the water you have around there lately A flashing SES light indicates a misfire, which you've probably had all along, even before the tune up. Quite possible the wires were disturbed when they replaced the injector assembly. Just for starters, it might be worth your while to replace the distributor cap & rotor with AC Delco parts, (yes, it does make a difference what brand you use). Cheezy off the wall aftermarket stuff doesn't cut it in these things... not if you want it to perform properly

I have all AC Delco parts in for everything I've replaced so far, I've been browsing the forums since I got the Blazer back in June. I pulled out the #1 plug and there was no gas on it at all (I changed the plugs again after the new spider was put in). Brought it back to the mechanic and he fixed it, said it was something wrong with the way the spider came so he fixed it for free. Either way it's fixed no and my truck has never been running this well. Thanks for the help everyone, I appreciate it.
