spark plug replcment now its missing
In the process of changing spark plugs, well I知 done but now the engine is missing. I can still see threads on spark plug #3 but it wont tighten down any farther, thing was a SOB. I知 kind of wondering if I cross threaded it??? Played it pretty safe and dint force it in though and took my time, any ideas?

starting to wonder if i have one of my wires on the wrong plug. i'm guessing the cylinders go 2,4,6 on the passenger side and 1,3,5 on the drivers side, but how do they hook up on the distributor?
#3
just went out looked on the distributor and saw it had all cylinder numbers on it, checked all my plug wires and everything was ok. started it up again let it run for like 10 sec and white smoke started to pouring out my exhaust... i should add that i used the old wires again due to funding at the moment, wonder if i dint break one...

The distributor cap is NUMBERED! As are the wires if they are original. If they are original, and you have any kind of mileage on this unit, they may have been damaged in boot area when you pulled them(very common!) Always use dialectric grease! As for the #3 plug I hope you searched this site First! Many tricks to make it easy (er).

OK Glad its running as for the white smoke, now you have another issue. Now do a search on this site and you will find your answer without having to post a new thread! Best of luck!

oh my...
Available at any hdw store cheap.. if it has handle break it off and use wire.. to bend because of tight space.
Then find way to blow hole out... canned air or even tubing put to lips.
Then use same thumb and finger to start plug at least 2 turns.. but make sure no antiseize on that ceramic.. like you see in the picture.
Wires... Replace one at a time! Even us guys done it for 45 years mix em up.. why mess with that!!!
PS..If you can see plug threads you gotta fix that.

yea i did a lot of researcher before i started. For some reason all my wires have a 2 on them from what i can remember, but i traced them all back up to the distributor and there all in the right place. dint originally see te numbers because of all the dirt siting on the distributor.
also the engine seems to run the same regardless of whetherr the wire on plug 3 is on or off... when i get some help im going to put and old plug in the #3 spark plu wire to see if i get a spark.
also whether or not #3 spark plug is in all the way shoudn't it still give a spark?

its running but its still missing (the air cleaner is still off) but i had it off last night and started it up after i did the passenger side plugs and it ran just fine. then i went and changed spark plug 1 and 5, cant remember if i started it up after that. decided to wait till today to tackle number #3...

Look real close because 1 and3 are crosed on the driver side of the truck al Im saying is number 1 cylander is what should be number 3 onthe distibuter cap, then vise versa for cylander 3 should be where 1 should be on the distributer. Have to be careful them two are tricky. If You have it 2 to 2,4 to 4, and 6 to 6.Then 1 to 3, 3 to 1, and5 to 5 then you have the wires hooked up right. thats the best way I can explain it
