squeaking comes and goes

Default squeaking comes and goes

This week, I have notice that I was having quiet squealing. Yesterday, I have noticed it again too, but went away. This evening it came back louder than ever, I could now seem to hear it coming from the right front wheel. It reminded me of a low brake pad indicator, but happened while I was driving it still when I braked. It them went away again. 2003 Chevy Blazer 107450 miles. I do know the brakes are running low, but never gave any noise indication. Could it be the brakes or something else>

if the sound goes up and down , I would be looking at the ujoints

Could be wheel; bearings also. they will often have an intermittent sound when they start to go bad. Pull the wheel off, disconnect the caliper and see if you can move the rotor assemble in and out and side to side. If it moves in any direction other than spinning chances are the bearings are worn out.

I had put new tires on in Oct. They had checked the stuff out, they found my right side lower ball joint and idler arm was bad, but nothing was said about the wheel bearings. However, I doubt they took the caliber off like Greegg64 said to do. Also, anything I read on the web, I don't see anyone mentioning that wheel bearings making a squeaking sound, mostly low rumbling sounds.

Could it be possible that the wear indicator can get moved around?

if there is a dust shield behind the rotor it is possible that it has rotted away or bent and is contacting the rotor

Iv,e known a few quiet squealers. Much better than the real loud ones. Wakes up the neighbors.
