New here and have an issue.

I have a 2000 Jimmy. It stalled the other day and I thought I had ran out of gas. It has the usual faulty sending unit for the fuel guage. Added gas after about 30 minutes of waiting for my wonderful wife to bring me some and it fired right back up and drove fine the rest of the way to work and back home that evening. It sat over the weekend and Monday morning I was on my way to work again, when I stopped at the gas station. Came out and it wouldn't start again. Let it sit for the day and it started right up after work and drove home fine. I checked for codes and there are none. There were none when it wouldn't start either.

It turns over fine, but it is either not getting spark or fuel. The strange thing is it fixes itself. Anyone ever have a fuel pump that would act like this? Every time I have ever had one fail, it just stopped working and stayed that way.

 

I've seen many fuel pumps that fail in exactly that way; they will run just fine for a while but once the truck is shut off they won't run until they sit and wait for an hour or more. I once drove around all day with a fuel pressure gauge hooked up to my old '94 Blazer waiting for it to fail to start so I could check fuel pressure under the no-start condition. Once I had it happen while I had the gauge on it I was able to test it and prove that the fuel pump wasn't running when it wouldn't start.
