Default Starter Won't Crank, DRL's Stopped Working

I hope someone can help me here. I have a 1997 Blazer 4-door, 4X4 Automatic transmission, 4.3, floor shift. Currently, the starter does nothing when I turn the key to START position...just a click that sounds like a relay inside the dash somewhere. Starter solenoid does not click when the key is turned to START position. Also, today, the daytime running lights (DRL) just stopped working, and no longer come on when the key is turned to the RUN position. They worked, and then suddenly just stopped working. I didn't mess with anything but the key when that happened.

I drove the vehicle to and from work yesterday without any problems whatsoever. When the wife and I went to leave later on, I turned the key and nothing happened. Dash lights come on, but do not dim when I turn the key to START position. Just that mysterious relay click from within the dash. I assume the PARK/NEUTRAL safety switch to be working because the click from within the dash only happens with the shifter in PARK or NEUTRAL.

All fuses are good. Nothing is burned out.

The only previous electrical issue I have had with this thing is that for the last year or so, the ignition key release solenoid has not worked. I have been manually actuating the solenoid through the bottom of the column to get my key out of the lock cylinder. But that's all.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: The ignition switch is not the problem. I installed a new one and nothing changed....still no response from the starter solenoid, and still no daytime running lights. Help!

UPDATE #2: I feel pretty sheepish....went out and checked things over again, found out that I evidently accidently hit the E-brake pedal. The pedal was down two clicks; not enough to stop the truck from rolling, but enough to kick out the DRL's. Pulled the E-brake release and now DRL's are fine. Looks like the starter is the culprit.
