Default Steering column question

I have a 98 2wd 4dr LS that I'm working on. I also have a 97 4wd 4dr that I'm using for parts. I'd like to switch out the column shift in the 98 to a floor shift. One question, would I have to trade columns, and would they interchange? I have all the floor shift parts in the 97. Would I have to trade out column parts from one to another and is this even possible? Thanks in advance for any help

The column itself should swap and bolt right up. The 97 ignition switch is unique for that year, which means the instrument panel wire harness will also be different. You'll have to visually check everything, and determine if the necessary modifications are worth the effort.

Thanks Captain, I'll probably use the components off the 98. I will be changing it to floor shift instead of column.
