Default Steering pump/motor

New problem.

I was reverse parking this morning & when turning the wheels to the left - no problem.

When turning the wheels to the right, I noticed the steering was very tight.

This has been the case all day. Left - no problem. Right - Tight.

Checked the fluid & all seems ok.

Went to the Chevy guys & they've only ever experienced this on a full size Blazer.

They believe it to be in the steering pump or motor. They suggest a flush of the system & if that does not do anything then they may need to open the pump and/or motor.

Anyone experience this issue? Any clues? Kyle 'o wise one? LOL

Oh yes, seems to improve if you rev the motor. If that means anything.

Sorry Ken, I did not see this initially. Seems like it would be appropriate in either this section or the Steering & Suspension section so it's your call as to where you'd like it.

My first check would be the suspension and steering assemblies. Make sure that something has not bent or come loose which may cause it to be tight one way vs. the other. Hopefully you find something in that respect because the alternative is that there is something wrong inside the steering gear box itself.

Thanks Kyle.

I'll crawl under on Saturday & have a look. Otherwise I'm at the mercy of the Chevy guys again.

In these times of recession I bet they rub there hands with delight when I visit. LOL

Crawled under & no problem evident.

I left it with the Chevy guys today & they can sort it out.

Whilst there they'll also fit an exhaust off one of the wrecks (free) to keep me on the road till all the issues on my truck have been addressed. Then I'll upgrade to a high performance system.

Also whilst there they may as well replace the driver door hinge pins.

Next on the list is a drivers seat, better towbar, new battery, tyres & tranny overhaul or at least fix the P1870 issue.

Finally there will be a full service & tune up.

Then I'll need to SELL IT before a new "to do" list automatically generates!

It's on going for a while but mostly the issues drag on due to no money to pay for repairs so I just keep bleating on about it.
Right now I'm full steam ahead to get it sorted & when done will be one good reliable truck.

I now believe this truck may have been abused by the previous owner in Japan. OR it was simply just a Monday/Friday truck!
