Default Stiff Gas Pedal

I'm slowly getting to grips with my new 2001 Blazer and working my way through some issues. My gas pedal seems very stiff and I've noticed the revs are slow to drop from about 1.5K/2K revs down to idle. It feels like theres a point at which it sticks. I've had a look down the throttle body and it looks pretty clean so I'm wondering if this is likely to be a cable thats binding? Is this a common problem and if so how easy are they to change? What should I lubricate and where?

My clutch pedal is also pretty stiff but I understand theres a grease nipple somewhere and I'm betting a shot or two of grease in it will cure that as I'm guessing it won't have had any for some years looking at what else has been neglected. I think the plugs were the originals at 68K miles as one snapped in half taking it out and the otheres were pretty damn rusty and the gaps you could drive a bus through. Running much better after new ones.

Look for binding cables! Note they run in a loop,if earlier repairs have been done-then look for full cable carrier tightness-any bolts/routing hardware missing? Look at the grommet through the wall as well...

OK, I'll get underneath at the weekend, is it best to approach it from underneath or above? Also any guidance as to where the grease nipple for the clutch is would be appreciated, the Haynes manual I have is a bit vague on the actual location!

I've had a good fiddle around, the throttle body itself seems fine, pushing the cables back from the top they seem fine but the pedal itself seems very stiff on the pivot. I've tried to get some spray grease into it but I think I my not have been that successful. Can the pivot be taken apart, cleaned, greased an reassembled? Is it just a matter of taking the clip off the end and driving a pin out? Any advice welcomed.
