Default Strange Grind

I have a strange grind on my 97 GMC Jimmy 4x4. It happens if you are at a dead stop and get on the accelerator like you are pulling out in traffic....it sounds like...a tire rub...but that isn't what it is. My mechanic did say I needed a sway bar kit...but I wouldn't think it would make that much of a rumble...I was told by my old mechanic that it was my motor mounts...had those changed the other day and if anything...it is more pronounced than it was before...meaning it does it at a point where it didn't do it before.

Nope...just on that initial acceleration. If I am driving down the road it doesn't do it and if I go into passing gear it wont do it. Just from a dead stop or 1st gear..but it doesn't jump from 1st to second or anything like that. It isn't loosing power when it does it...it isn't slipping in and out of gear...its just a loud rumble noise...

that is a good one. does it sound like it is coming from a particular side? and where does the noise seem to be coming from? when you hear the grinding how long does it last?

It sounds like it comes from the right side...it does it as long as I have the accelerator pushed...if I let off and reapply, as long as it is normal acceleration, it stops. It's almost like...rubber grinding..like if you were to run rubber along a metal wall...that kind of feeling/sound...you can feel it. I would think if it's the transmission it would be jerking and slipping. It will also do it if you power brake it.

Universal joint maybe , or transmission or motor mount . Also if you have had the transmission out might want to check your bell housing bolts.

wheel bearing maybe?

edit: just read the part where if you let off and then reapply accelerator it stops..

that's wild.
