STRANGE ISSUE ON 98 BLAZER 4x4 ANYONE???
I had a strange thing today happen. I Wonder what is going on???
We took a 1500 mile trip from 3000 ft in elevation to -100 ft below sea level, up to 8500 ft & down to sea level. On the return trip from sea level to 9600 ft back to 3000 ft.
We traveled from 98 degrees @ 11pm to 113 degrees @ midnight to 48 degrees @ 4am to the 70s. On the return from the 70s to the 108s with 20-30% humidity.
We traveled on both pavement & dirt roads.
The Blazer ran great, then 10 miles from home. On the last dirt road we punched a rock through a tire. We had been running the A/C for about 1.5 hours in 108 temps & humid.
When I pulled over to change the tire I was off the road. The Blazer was leaning right some. I got out & started changing the tire & I saw water running out from between the firewall & inner fender. I thought what is this. It had a real diluted sweet taste. No moisture on the floor inside, didn't see any leaks had pressure on the radiator hoses. I noticed the cooling reservoir was down about a 1/4".
When I bought this Blazer I was told a new heater core had been installed. But I had an anti freeze smell when you first turned on the heater or A/C sometimes. So I had a mechanic check it & I was told the heater core was replaced but whoever did it didn't clean out the case. So what I'm asking is could of the water that I saw leaking out been the moisture from the humidity in the evap case washed out the case? Is the A/C drain between the firewall & inner fender?
Could the anti freeze level just be from the different driving environments?
ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS???
Thanks.

I think every car i have ever been in that had its AC on for any good amount of time had a little puddle of water under it after it was parked. I know my truck did the same thing (when my AC worked) i just dont know where it came from.. But its just condensation from the air conditioning, nothing i would worry about. The sweet taste you said it had is a little strange tho...

I think that the anti freeze that was in the case may of washed out. I wondered if the drain was blocked & running over dirt & rough roads caused enough vibration to clear it. Because I haven't noticed any condensation before.
Thanks for your response.

Thanks Kyle,
That is exactly where the water was coming from. It seems the antifreeze smell that I got when either heater or A/C first come on is much less. So I hoping that what happened was the residue that was not cleaned out when the heater core was changed was washed out some. We live where humidity is very low. In Tri State Area of Arizona the only time you ever see water from an A/C drain is during what we call the monsoon season which is august as a rule. Thunderstorms in the afternoons with morning temps & after the rain temps going 110 degrees with the humidity as high as 75% but by night most of the humidity is gone until the next days rain. It is the same in Southern Nevada. S
So to see water pouring out of an A/C drain is very rare.
