Lightbulb Suddenly Shutting Off #Annoying

Hello fellow Blazer heads
First time on here in awhile but of course I drive a good ole GM with their electrical bugs that they love to let loose on the factory floor at random.
So here I am; to the point

I own a 98 4wd Blazer, of course the 4.3 vortex and all bells and whistles from then. Few days ago I start the truck, she cranks no problem, idles like a champ, A/C chilled right up, radio on, put the truck in drive pull out the drive way and hit the gas. 5 seconds later the truck dies. Now I say dies, the only warning I got was the gauges all went crazy and all the dash lights flashed on, then dead just like someone turned the key off. so as Im still rolling I put the truck in neutral turned the key over, she sparked right up slide into drive and kept on rolling, no problems. There are no check engine codes, however my abs light has been coming and going tho (figuring a hub sensor).

So I think thats odd....and dangerous. Ever since then its guaranteed to happen when I crank up the truck, sometimes it will happen 3 or 4 times before I finally can get going.

My intuition says go after the ignition switch....any other opinions ???
Thanks guys

I had the exact same problem with one of my Integras. I know it is a different animal, but same symptoms. It would just shut off while driving. It turned out to be the ignition.

Thanks for the reply. Im usually not one to just throw parts at a vehicle without being positive of the problem, however this needs to be fixed. So i tried a new ignition switch last night and that turned out to be no help. Still have the same problem.

So back to square one. I have read that it could be the torque converter sensor? something along those lines. ? My first thought before ignition was the Crank position sensor, however since no check engine code was on i let that thought go. Now im leaning back towards that thought. I had a Pontiac Bonneville that would die riding down the road, turned out to be the crank sensor. Once again I dont wanna just throw parts at it so any other ideas ???

When you replaced the ignition switch, did you check all the wires/connectors/etc? Pull the connectors off the ECM and check/clean them. Also check battery and alternator connections.

Check your fuel pressure and leak down, at the port under the hood and before the fuel filter.
When the fuel pump on my 93 went bad, there were a couple times where it would randomly shut off for no reason at all. a month later left me stranded and having to replace the fuel pump. Just a thought.
