Use less pedal
Check wires
Is the vehicle loaded?
check tires
Use higher octane fuel
take less stop and go traffic

That's worse than what I get in town with lift and 32" MTs.

i have a 00 4x4x4, just me, CAI, after market exhaust (from the pre-cat back), new EVERYTHING (see my gd build ), and run 89 octain..... i average right about that for 70% HW, 30% surface roads.

BUT i drive like an *** (2150 rpms at 70 mph on the highway) and keep my foot in it the whole time.

could be worse

98 4 door 4x4, and was averaging about 19-21 before the wreck, but I would drive grandma style, and never really get above 35-40 in the tach...

I just did this EGR Valve clean: https://blazerforum.com/forum/article-submissions-discussions-47/how-egr-valve-cleaning-discussion-thread-18901/ Its a problem most all blazers will develop I've found out, and the fix has made a good difference in MPG (@ least 1 mpg on initial estimates = good imho). Not to mention a small, but noticeable, bump in power during idle and acceleration.

Short of doing that, a good course (3 bottles over 3 tanks) of $3 STP Fuel System/Carb/Injector cleaner has also gotten me some improvement. (Maybe thats overkill, I dunno)

my 2004 only gets 14-15 in strictly city/suburban driving where every corner has a stop sign lol. when going to and from girlfriends home (Traverse City Michigan a 290 mile trip) i get about 21ish if i never exceed 80mph. so thats about average

Check the thermostat. The previous owner of my 2000 4-door 4X4 replaced the OEM 195 deg. with some weird 92 deg. thermostat. Fuel mileage sucked! First part I bought for my Blazer was the correct thermostat and it came close to doubling the fuel mileage. The wrong thermostat will cause the engine to run at the incorrect temperature and throw the computer off. It made a world of difference for my truck.
