Hi guys,
Thinking about doing a wheel/tire upgrade...
Currently running the stock 235/75/15's on the 2005 blazer.
Was thinking on going to the 31/10.5/15 or 265/75/15 on the stock rims.
Looking around on Kijiji, etc... at used stuff as this is just a winter truck and started to wonder if there is a factory swap that anyone is aware of.
EG: a truck that came stock with 31's and a bolt pattern/offset that would work. a Silverado or something for example.

I am aware of the threads stating that you need to complete a 2" lift for these to fit, however my truck seems to sit high stock so going to try the tires first and lift if required.

thanks in advance.

Thumbs up Lost of Traction Lead me to Stay with OEM size Tires.

The 31's did cost nearly $100 more but it was the loss of traction in rain and snow that lead me to stay OEM. If I was single and not as concerned with the kids safety I might have gone more dangerously.

Any S-series ZR2 came with 31x10.5" tires from factory. Those are the only vehicles with the same rim bolt pattern and backspacing. Some people say they have fit 31's without lifting, but most have to go up at least 2" to prevent the tires from rubbing on the back of the front fender. With tires that size on factory rims (6" backspacing) you'll likely rub on the frame as well when turning at full lock.

interesting...
So is there a genuine satey issue with this?
Can see it being a problem if a different model in the same lineup runs thse tires.
for what its worth the rims on my truck look exactly the same as the ZR2 rims.

So is it possible that my rims could look identical (rim face is the same) and yet the rim be 1" narrower?

Not opposed to the lift in any way just thought i would try doing it without first.
I will upload pics of the truck and wheels today, please any opinions on thw wheels offset and "height" of the truck would be appreciated.

thnx.

It is not only possible but VERY probable that you have the exact same rims as found on ZR2's. Reason being, there is no ZR2 rim.

ALL 4X4 rims are the same size, 15X7 with 6" of backspacing. Many non-ZR2's came with the "ZR2" rims from the factory.

The other thing is that not all 31" tires are the same. They can vary up to 3/4" taller or shorter. I've had 2 different sets of 31" tires, and one rubbed, and the other didn't. My BFG All-Terrains rub on the frame when I turn at full lock, but the ones I had before didn't. I think they were called a Trail Buster Radial APR, or something like that. Both were 31x10.5 on factory rims.

AT tires tend to have more of a squared aggressive shoulder which probably makes them more likely to rub on the frame.
