Hi Blazerites,
New to the forum, hope u can help.
I have a '96 S10 2 dr , auto tran Blazer with 78,000 miles on it.
I've owned it since 1996 (second owner).
The problem:
When turning, there is a distinct swoosh-swoosh-swooshing sound. It seems to be louder when turning right. I've checked the power steering fluid level and it's OK. At first I thought it was brakes, so I replaced all the rear brake's hardware and shoes. I replaced the front pads also.
Someone suggested it was the torsion bars that run along side the frame.
The sound is soft, not metalic and doesn't increase in speed when I speed up or slow down.
I do as much of the work as I can, but this one has me stumped.
Thanks for ur input.
Mike

Sounds like a failing left front wheel bearing. I know you said it doesn't change with speed, but does the frequency of the sound change with speed?

smartlkk, I have a 4 whl dr, would the bearing ur referring to be in the hub and bearing assembly? Looking at my repair manual, it says that the assembly is sealed and isn't servicable ie. buy a new one.

Yup that's it! Buy as best as you can afford & make sure you torque it to specs & the directions. There's a link in forum about replacing a hub assembly, just do a search for Hub Assembly in DIY I believe. If you don't have the socket &/or torque wrench you can probably borrow (with a deposit) or rent 1 for a day at a lot of parts places.
