I just got a new transmission my old one was dying. Im a somewhat beginner on this, and never worked on a chevy before.

What is the correct way to take out my 4L60E transmission out of my 1995 Blazer?

First disconnect the exhaust
then remove the electric connector on the 4L60E
then remove the transfer connector thingy
then unscrew the 4l60E from the engine
then just wiggle and pull the 4l60e out.?

i know this might be a dumb question. but i thought you guys have got alot of experiance with this taking this to a work shop here in norway gonna drain my wallet dry :P

Here are 2 pdf files one is for the transmission and the other is the transfer case.

1. Remove exhaust
2. Drop front and rear driveshafts (soak them the night before with WD-40 or something)
3. Drop Crossmember (support trans)
4. Remove transfer case (remove two black support braces first) don't forget output speed, vacuum, and large electrical connectors
5. Pop off shift linkage, remove from pan, as well as shift connector and transmission harness.
6. Remove inspection cover
7. Unbolt flexplate->converter bolts (3)
8. Tip transmission down and remove top 2 bolts (apx. 24" of extensions and a universal)
9. Remove last 2 bolts and give the trans a wiggle to separate from block. Be carefull, mine was corroded a bit and took quite a bit of work.

I think the second time I did it, 2 of us got it out in around an hour

wow that sounds like a lot of work. did yo guy have a lift? or did you do it in your driveway?
