Default TDC Question

01 4.3. I saw one video and got the following from it, but don't see anybody else saying the same. Here goes: I aligned timing marks on balancer. The rotor was pointed opposite of the "6" on the distributor body. Video says exhaust stroke. Turned motor one revolution and aligned timing marks again. Rotor is now pointed at the "6". Video says compression stroke and I am now at TDC. Is there any need to pull the #1 plug and check, or is the video correct?

If you want double check, pull plug and stick a screwdriver in. If piston is at the top, you 're good

Piston is also at the top with distributor 180° out. It's a 4-stroke engine.

I'll go ahead and say the obvious..... Never crank an engine with the starter when anything is inserted into a cylinder.

If engine is running, then no need to pull a plug. But if distributor has been out, you will need to feel compression on #1 with spark plug out, then turn balancer clockwise to the next time the marks are aligned
