Default Technical term

Can anyone tell me what the technical term for the air intake assembly is called? The air intake assembly sits right on top of the oil filler tube and the rubber air intake duct tore and I am having a problem finding a replacement because I don't know what the technical term is.

I would go with intake tube , likely a wrecker, pick and pull or dealer only item

Is it just me, or does anybody else find it difficult to put the air intake "hood" on with the oil fill in the way?

dont remember it being a huge PIA however there are other things that come to mind

On my 05 I think it easier to put the whole thing back as an assembly
There are indexing tabs on the filter lid . flex tubes, max air flow sensor and throttle body housing

What year vehicle do you have? I may have what you need for just the price of postage. Take a pic so I can make sure mine is what you need.

I'll have to dig mine out of the garage but I am heading out hunting early tomorrow morning and will be gone for the next week. When I get back I'll find it and let you know if they look the same. I'm not sure if there is a difference in a '96 and '00.

Send me a PM so I don't forget about it when I get back.

Something else you might want to look into is upgrading to a cold air intake. Allows your engine to breath a little better with a cold temp in air and might find a few extra ponies and mpg's for you.

That air intake part is listed as: DUCT,A/CL OTLT(W/INT AIR TEMP SEN) P/N 25173861

Its nowhere near the oil filler. Once you have had it on/off a few hundred times it gets very easy.

BTW- don't bother with a cold air intake. There is no difference in air flow. If you watch live data on a scanner you will see no difference in the air flow volume at the MAF. Also don't bother with the oil type air filters. Use a good quality paper filter.
