Smile Solved?

Went through another afternoon of TS the ignition. Convinced I had done as much as I could without removing the harness; I decided to try go another direction. Dumped two ounces of fuel into TB. Immediate fire up. Re-attached fuel pressure guage. This time it was below requirements. More reading. Found pressure was bleeding off! More reading. If fuel pressure regulator is leaking it has to go somewhere. Checked oil level. Showed roughly 1 quart over full! More investigation. Origional injection systems have host of problems. Changed spider injection system to updated version. Lower intake showed carbon washdown on rear and drivers side. Allot of leaking. Changed rotor and cap as well. Fired first crank. ASSUMPTION: Allot of cranking with worn ignition parts will cause an intermittent 1351, maybe, maybe not. The CAUSE of all the cranking was loss of fuel pressure. A dual issue. I suppose the wierd thing is that one it did start it ran OK. Again thanks for help. I hope what I found will help others.

We told you that it didnt sound as though the timing was off. You have to have a open mind when diagnosing cars. Anyways im glad you found and fixed your troubles.

Wink Agreed

Like you said; keep an open mind. That's why I went back to checking for a fuel problem. I focused on the timing firstly because as I'm sure you will agree that if foundations are skipped; one's other efforts may be wasted. Once I learned most all of these engine run at upper range of advance; I moved on. I also learned that a p1351 indicates a problem in IC circuit...IF NOTHING ELSE IS WRONG!!! For whatever reason it is thrown falsely when allot of cranking and low fuel pressure are present. I'm not saying there isn't high voltage present. Because in my case it was...... SOMETIMES. A real head scratching affair. Life is a learning experience. Thanks guys; have a good day.
