Default Torque converter STARVATION

I bought this 2000 Blazer with a bad transmission (broken sun shell and 3-4 clutches gone). I noticed the bad trans that was in it was already a junkyard swap when I removed it (paint pen markings on top). I ran trans fluid through the cooler until it came out clean, rebuilt the trans and replaced the converter with a re-manufactured one. All eletronics are new except the 2 shift solenoids.

I replaced my re-manufactured torque converter after it failed in 3,000 miles. Before it failed it rattled when cold and when the pressure changed during shifts when cold. When hot it was fine. The rattle got louder and eventually stayed around longer and shifts started to slip.

The guy before me had the cooler lines at the trans switched. I re-installed the rebuild with the lines the same both times, since they were bent to fit.

Filter has been changed 2 times with AutoZone Duralast deep pan trans filter.

My questions:

1. With cold fluid would there be too much resistance to pump the fluid backwards through the cooler (bottom to top)?

2. Should I just start with the B & M cooler and see if it goes away?

3. Should I try a different brand filter first?

4. Should I switch the lines back to top feed at the cooler. These lines need to be switched on the trans and are hard to access with out removing the transfer case and lowering the trans.

5. Anyone else experienced this?

Any thoughts (useful) before I tear into this again?

Fluid level reads perfect, and the previous torque converter failed when it was a little high (according to dipstick). I put in 11 qts. Super Tec (Wal-Mart). The pump is fed from the hole on bottom of filter and should have plenty of supply when I start the engine. But when I start it there is a rattle like a bad heat shield rattle, 100% sure its not a shield then it fades away in about 5 seconds depending on how cold the outside temp is. Same rattle when between shifts or if i put more foot into it when cruising 35 mph in 3rd. I am really nursing it trying not to make the rattle which I believe could trash a 2nd converter.

When I had the trans out to replace the torque converter I took the pump in to the shop that rebuilt it and had it inspected. All was good. I also checked the bearings on both sides of the input housing. All was good.

Anybody?

Flow through the cooler shouldn't matter.

What year was the truck the transmission came out of? Maybe there is a problem with the TCC solenoid circuit...

I don't know. I assumed it was correct. How would I tell the year? It had almost all molded pistons instead of lip seals. It was costly to replace all those. When I ordered them I asked for 2000 parts and they matched.

I do have the tcc apply feel valve blocked off with a "Fitz All" valve fix for code p1870 year 95 to 2000. This allows the converter to be on or off. Not a slow apply to prevent you from feeling it. Its on or off!
