Default Trailblazer/Blazer Frame Questions

Hi All,
Is the frame from a 2001 four-door Blazer similar to the frame from a 2004 Trailblazer?
Thanks,
RTJ49

Nope, not at all. They are two completely different platforms.

That's right, Nothing in common. But you will never guess where the GMT-360 frame did show up. Remember the 2003 Chevy pick up truck SSR? It was sitting on a modified GMT 360 frame with a 5.3L V8 and 4 speed auto aka 4L60E. This small V8 in a 4000 + lb. truck made it sluggish. So the 2005 SSR came with a 6.0L alum. V8 with a choice of a 4 speed auto or a 6 speed Tremec aka maual. The 0--60 times dropped to an acceptable level. But too late. The word was on the street: poseur.

Car and Driver's take on the SSR:

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...ake-road-test/

The first gen SSR was $41,995 list and the second gen 2005 with the 6.0L was $43,200 and went up to $47,375. But now you can get a good deal on either one at your friendly used car dealer..I have a friend who has one and one mechanical quirk is the auto trans shift cable is too near the exhaust and cat. and the nylon bushing melt*. When they melt, the trans is stuck in gear. So if you buy one, get a spare shift cable and carry it with you on road trips. It is less than $20.00, but worth it's weight in gold if it melts in Albuquerque at midnight.
* This melting shift cable applies to both the 5.3L and the newer 6.0L but only with the 4 speed auto trans. ........I wonder if the Trailblazer GMT--360 --all with auto trans-- have the same problem? Probably not, it is a matter of the tight packaging on the SSR.

It would kill me to pay nearly 50K for a new vehicle. I really don't understand why anyone would ever do it, even though I could.

A 6.0L in 4000# truck is also a poser IMHO. I pull a vehicle with a 0-60 of under 3 seconds on a trailer, using a 6500# 5.3 Avalanche. The first one fully satifies my need for speed. Total cost for both vehicles was far less than 50K. All depends on your frame of reference. And here we are in a forum for $3K vehicles (if they are nice)!

I have a hard time deciding what was worse, both looks and everything else wise; The Chevy SSR or the Chevy HHR.
