Transfer Case Control Module Random Clicking
Been troubleshooting the 4wd on 99 Blazer with 4 button NP-8.
Replaced encoder motor and 4wd finally works. Then randomly it was not able to change modes and Service 4wd was lit.
I shut off ignition, restart the Blazer and everything is working normal again.
Switch modes while driving about a dozen times, everything is running great.
Turn it off to get back in it 5 minutes later and no lights on the switches. Start driving and I hear a click from the TCCM, lights come on at the switch, and everything works.
Randomly at other times during normal driving I hear chattering coming from the TCCM.
The only corrosion on the wire connector that I could find was on the barrel connector for wires E1 and E3, which is for the lock solenoid and the Auto 4wd indicator control. The pins themselves don’t have any corrosion.
The TCCM is supposedly a new, remanufactured Dorman that a mechanic installed and over charged me for (long story) 6 months ago.
Does it sound like the new’ish TCCM is bad?
If I wanted to check for a voltage supply problem to the TCCM, what pins would I need to check?
If I do replace the TCCM, are they plug and play or do they need to be programmed?
Is there a particular manufacturer that you recommend?
TIA

FIRST thing to ALWAYS suspect is wiring connectors. Vibration kills electrical terminals.
They can be bad and its not visible.
"The only corrosion on the wire connector that I could find was on the barrel connector for wires E1 and E3, which is for the lock solenoid and the Auto 4wd indicator control."
BAD. Plastic doesnt corrode as a rule. Brasso is your friend. All it takes is oxidation to ruin a connnector terminal.

Thanks for the reply.
Is it possible to remove the barrel connector from the back of the wiring connector?
In other words, push the pin out so I can clean it up?
The portion of the pin that makes contact with the TCCM is not corroded, it is the portion that is in the back of the wiring connector.
Next time I’m in there I will take a picture, cuz it will ‘splain much better.
Words=hard.
Thanks again
