Faulty TCCM on 99 Jimmy
Hey all and thanks in advance for reading my post.My 99 jimmys transfer case stopped shifting into 4WD on day, so I figured it could be the control module and since it's in such a easy spot to get to I opened the passenger kickboard, unplugged the battery and then unplugged the TCCM after 1 minute I plugged it back in and it started working again. After 1 week the same problem happened so I figured the TCCM would have to be replaced. Next I bought a 2nd hand TCCM off another 99 jimmy however it looked a lil different with 2 plugs one being the same as mine but was orange instead of blue. I later realized this module is for luxury models that had a 4 button 4wd interface unlike the 3 button in mine. Either way I plugged it in fired up the car and when I pressed a 4WD button sparks started to fly from the TCCM and it fried. So I obviously put the wrong one in! I straight away turned off the vehicle and removed the wrong TCCM. Now I have a new correct TCCM and I have plugged it into the vehicle. But now when I try to engage 4wd, the TCCM just makes a clicking noise and nothing shifts in the Transfer case. I know that I fried the TCCM but could I also have damaged wiring? Already checked the fuse and that's in good shape, not sure what to try next? Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks again.
I have a 99 Service Manual and can look up stuff and scan psges for you.when I get to my computer.
But first, a properly running TCCM should not have lots of clicking going on. Such clicking is considered a symptom of one that is dying.
Is your new TCCM new old stock or a rebuilt one?

Appreciate the advice Christine.
Probably you have a bad encoder motor. IMHO clicking is normal for the TCCM when it operates the relay leading to the encoder motor. There is more than one fuse for the 4WD system, but the ATC fuse under the hood is the main one.
Search NVG233 under my name. I posted a lot of wiring diagrams and info a long time ago. Good luck.
