Default Trip Odometer not working (Analog)

'97 Blazer, Analog cluster, not Digital.

My Trip Odometer I noticed just stopped working today after resetting it when I filled up some gas. For the record, my main odometer still works and spins fine. It's just the re-settable trip odometer. Hitting the reset button a few more times did nothing. Everything else on dash works fine.

Reading up, I'm told the old Analog odometers can have gears that break. Could this be the case with mine, and would it be possible for just the trip to break and not the main?

Thanks.

I wouldn't be surprised that a gear broke. They are made of plastic and with the reset button mechanism, it is quite a jolt to them. But you could likely get what you need from a gauge cluster found at a wrecking yard and repair it.

So it is some plastic gearing that likely broke? Cool. I'll look into that then at a yard next chance I get. Much oblidged!

Update:

Not sure what happened but the trip odometer started working again one day.

Same day it started working, I had replaced the Neutral Safety Switch and resoldered some broken wires that went to the NSS plug.

Not sure if maybe one of those wires being broken was the culrpit. But that was a couple months ago and it's been working since.
