Trouble Codes
when i had the p1870 it was tranny slippin between 2nd and 3rd they had to replase all the valve packs or seals but it had been rebuilt and was under warranty so you might have a bigger problem then you think. sorry to say. at first eberything was fine but now that its colder it feels like when i take off my tires are on ice slippin but they arent its somethin with the tranny but i aint gettin no codes im thinkin earl bros unplugged the tranny from the puter because they didnt want to fix any more problems for free
A shop is required to fix ANY and ALL problems within the provisions of the warranty. If they only reset the PCM to get you out the door, the next time the problem shows up, and it will, tell them to fix it or the district attorney and better business bureau will be contacting them on your behalf. Nothing ticks me off more than a dealership not wanting to pay up for selling you a lemon with a warranty.
Let me run something by you. A busted cv axle from the joint by the transmission would that send a code. I can't feel any slippage from the tranny going down the road and in the morning when my shaft comes in I plan on doing a filter and fluid with synthetic change. I'm not trying make this complicated sounding just trying to get home for xmas. PS.. you guys have been great giving me help and I do thank you for the info

No, the CV joint cannot set off a code. However, if it was jambed and the transmission was slipping trying to move it, just a thought.
If the CV shaft was jammed, you would know. If you have a bad cv joint, you can tell by turning in a tight radius and listening for a popping/clicking noise from the affected area. If the cv joint were binding, it would act much like a hung-up brake caliper/wheel cylinder, pulling your truck in the direction of the binding wheel. The function of the cv shaft really prohibits it from binding up in any way other than possibly while turning, but again, that would be at the extremes of steering travel.
