Troubleshooting/Locating coolant leak

BlazerNovice: that hose is the bypass hose; I split this hose a couple of weeks ago in getting the fan clutch off. A replacement hose is less than $10.
If the upper, lower and the bypass hose have not been replaced for quite some time, suggest doing all three of them. I just ordered all three from RockAuto where the upper and lowers were on a close-out, both were under $10 each. Since you have to drain the radiator to change the bypass hose, might as well do all three. Also give the coolant pump a good "once-over" as well.

It is not fun having a radiator hose blow when on the road and changing it in a parking lot......I know.

Ended up being a pinhole in the small C shaped hose that's on top of the water pump. It revealed itself by pissing hot liquid on my face once the thermostat opened hahah
thank you everyone for your advice, it was greatly appreciated 👍
