Truck drives itself

Truck drives itself
My 2000 Chevy Blazer S10 4.3L 4 wheel drive has been acting up, it doesn't do it all the time but seems to come and go. When I'm driving down the road the rpm's remain at around 1500 when my foot is off the gas pedal. When it does this I do not have to press the gas pedal and can go anywhere up hills, down hillsor flat ground, and it makes it hard to stop because I'm pushing the brake andthe blazer istrying to drive at 1500rpms. Also, when I try to put it in park when it is acting up it jumps to between 2500-3000 rpms but occasionally jumps more or less. Neutral also seems to have this effect like park. Please help, I've had the TPS sensor changed and were running out of ideas.

RE: Truck drives itself
Pull off the intake and clean the MAF sensor (Metal...connects to the airbox...has a harness that plugs into it). Careful when doing this...there are 3 resistors that make up the working part of the sensor(which is what needs to be cleaned). I used q-tips and sprayed it down with brake cleaner. Not sure how safe that is but it worked none the less. Also make sure you air filter is clean and dry. Do you have a K&N or similar filter that has oil on it?

RE: Truck drives itself
I'm thinking that the throttle is sticking. I would recommend removing the throttle body and giving it a thorough cleaning, removing the IAC valve and cleaning the pintle and the bore it slides in off as well. The IAC valve is located on the back of the throttle body.
You can remove the throttle cable from the throttle body to check it for tight spots as you move it in and out, but I suspect it is carbon build up in the throttle body that is causing it to stick.
Cleaning the MAF sensor is always a good idea, but I do not feel that it is the cause of this problem.

how many miles you got on your blazer..i know my s10 that had the same motor was doing that as well..once i changed to intake manifold gaskets it quit...but i also cleaned EVERYTHING extreamly well...like everyone else was saying. and that was at about 190,000 miles

What about the Idle Air Control? My old explorer was doing the same thing, then it degraded to not being able to hold at idle (idling too low) and stalling out...replacing the IAC fixed it right up!

Yep I would follow swartlkk's solution, as I believe that should solve the problem. When you let off the gas pedal, does it retract? If not check to make sure the gas pedal isnt getting hung up on anything and then check the throttle cable too. But a through cleaning of the intake, IAC valve, and throttle body should fix it but if not you should get a little better gas mileage too.
