Default Tune up

I have read a few post regarding changing plugs and wires but have not seen anything as to the rotor and cap replacement. My blazer is a 2000 and it has 114000 on it and has not been tuned up yet, so do I just change the plugs and wires or do I need to do something else with the rotor and cap?

Replacing the rotor and distributor cap are definitely a good choice. It doesnt do ya any good to replace the wires if you cant get a good spark from the distributor through em

how much work was it to change them, from what i've read they are on the back of the motor and it's pretty much feeling your way for the mounting screws

Nope. Well...if youre short

You just need a torx bit to get them off. If you look at the back of the engine by the firewall, you can see it. I stood on my grill guard to get to the farthest down, closest to the engine screw on the rotor. It's a few screws, swap, screw back in. 10 min tops.

Just make sure you mark the position of the rotor on the distributor housing. If you put it back in wrong, it wont start (or itll misfire awesomely bad).

Also, do NOT overtighten the screws on the rotor or cap. The plastic is easy to crack!

Just finished the the tune up and it was not as bad as I thought it would be, just need to take your time. I changed 1 plug and wire at a time. Even the pain in the neck plug on the driver side was not to bad, just used a long extension and when i got it loose enough just used my hand to get it out and it was much easier going back in.

Took it for a test drive and noticed a light burning smell rechecked and everything is in it's place i'll give it a little longer for it to go away, may be some sort of burn off.

Thanks for all your help it made a big difference

Did you check the spark plug wires on the headers?
