Default Turn signal switch replacement

I'm really hoping y'all can tell me that there's another way to replace the turn signal switch without having to remove the steering wheel.

Situation:
My windshield wipers are starting to go crazy, for lack of a better phrase, and will randomly wipe up to 10 times when I hit the mist function once. I'm thinking the switch is having issues, so I got another switch to replace it with. I've taken the bottom steering wheel cover off, but can't figure out how to remove the top cover. The videos I've found for similar vehicles show removing the steering wheel and one shows having to remove the ignition.
Please tell me there is an easier way to remove to top steering wheel cover without all the extra work. It's a 1995 GMC Jimmy 4x4. Any help is appreciated.

You can remove both sections of the steering column cover without removing the steering wheel, or the dash bezel, but it requires a bit of wiggling. I took mine off on both my '96 Blazer and my '02 Sonoma.

If you have the bottom cover off I assume you already removed all 3 torx screws? I think they're T-25ish?

Try tilting the steering wheel to different angles? this might give a bit more room to sneak it out.

You'll need to remove the lower dash cover to access the multi-function switch plug, so if you need you can also remove the upper dash bezel which will give you a lot more wiggle room to take off the upper steering column cover.

Thank you. I did finally get it off, after a lot of wiggling and maneuvering. But I ran into another reason that the videos removed the steering wheel... the second bolt on the switch is behind the steering wheel and there's not enough room to get it in and out with the steering wheel in place... unless somebody has a magical solution for that, but I haven't found one yet. So, the project will have to wait until this weekend. I've changed this switch out on other vehicles very easily... why did GMC have to make this one so difficult?

You should be able to access that last screw by rotating the steering wheel to about the 8 O'clock position. The top of the steering wheel is flat enough and will just give enough access to put a standard screwdriver onto that screw.

That's fantastic to hear! I'll definitely give that a try, thank you.
