Okay so I'm just driving down a side street and stopping at a stop sign and the side street is fairly bumpy and after I stopped looked down at my cluster and noticed my ABS and Parking brake light were both on at the same time. My parking break was not pushed down at all I even pulled the release to see if I could get the parking break light to disappear. I also pulled down the nearest street and restarted my truck and both of the lights were off then while driving on a paved road not touching the breaks at all they both came on again. So after they came on again I went back to my house grabbed my code reader turned my key to on and did the usual. There was no codes to be found. I am beyond Confused Help me please.

 

i really dont know much about abs. when i bought my blazer everytime i wanna stop the truck like red light stop sign etc my abs pump will kick in like i was slipping on ice/snow and i could not stop that good so i pulled over and unpluged all th wires that goes to the abs and now i can stop way much better then when i had abs.... not all code readers can get abs codes so you should make sure your can read abs. my snap-on code reader can read engine codes abs codes and tranny codes and also it can turn things mostly anything i want on or off. lol oh i can also go online with it.

 

the abs light will come on if your sensors are dirty. they are located on the hub you can take them out with a little allen key, I think you can even do it without taking the wheel off. the parking brake light might be on because it thinks your parking break is engadged but its just pushed down a tiny bit, that happens to me sometimes just hold the release and push the pedal up with your foot that should work... at least it did for me

 

regular generic code readers are just for reading codes that affect emissions and wont give you any ABS codes. i know SEARS sells an ABS code reader that reads all domestic vehicle (the only ones that matter). but like benedict said, it wouldnt hurt to clean those sensors off. just dont break them lol

 

The most common problem when the ABS and Brake light indicators come on is a bad ground wire connection on the ABS controller. Is this a 2nd Gen Blazer? If so, the ground wire is located on the engine side of the radiator support on the driver side. Disconnect your battery, then remove the air filter box. The ground wire (10 gauge black) from the ABS controller runs across the inner fender well (under the washer fluid reservoir) and attaches to the lower portion of the radiator support. Remove the self tapping screw, clean the contact area on the radiator support and the eyelet then reattach. It may also be a dirty sensor as Benedict mentioned, but a dirty/bad sensor will usually just illuminate the ABS light - not both the ABS and Brake indicators.

Autozone can scan for codes free of charge. If they come up with a U1041 code it is more than likely the ground wire. Don't buy into the push to purchase a new ABS controller. They are very expensive and the problem is resolved 99% of the time by simply cleaning the ground wire.

 

Yeah turned out it was just mud/ debris on it so we are all good now. Thanks for the input

 

Bad front wheel bearings will cause ABS to kick in when coming to a stop at times. The sensor looses the signal so it thinks the wheel has stopped rolling.

 

my dad told me the wires are also prone to breaking, especially in cold weather.
