Default Uneven idle to start with……….

My truck is a 2000 Blazer 4wd. When I first go the truck found that as soon as I start it, if I just jump in and go, bogs down , and hesitates bad! But after it is running for about a minute (driving it or let it sit before I get in) everything evens out. I just recently had to replace the trans. After I got it back from the shop all was good, well all was the same! But then I noticed that when driving on the expressway that I could feel what I kind of thought I could feel before the trans finally gave up. That the truck had a slight “up, and down” to the running. It is barely noticeable, and I just thought that since the trans was now running as it should. I could feel what I always thought was there before. A surging. Well I also noticed that since I have to let it “warm up” before I take off, that the idle was surging, witch is new. This didn’t start as soon as I got it back from the shop. Well I was sitting at work waiting for someone to open, and I noticed that the surging idle was surging real low, and almost stalling. But just before I shut it off it finally stalled. Then would not start. So I figured I would let it sit tell work opened. It did start, but when I went to pull into the parking lot, it bogged out, stalled, and wouldn’t start again. So I pushed it to my parking spot . And after a short time went out to see if it would start, and it did. Once I left for work, and let it warm up everything seemed fine. Got about 3 or 4 miles from work, sitting at a light. Went to go, and noticed it was bogging, turned the corner and more extreme bogging, and eventually died. So I had to leave it. I work about 25 miles from home, and had to catch a ride from a Coworker. I read up on some of the threads that looked like they would apply to my issue. While waiting for my ride, I listened for the fuel pump to prime, and didn’t hear it. I know my post is a little long. I just wanted to make sure I explained what happened properly. I have to try to get it patched up to try to get it to limp home tomorrow after work. Any help would be FANTASTIC. Thanks in advance for any help.

When was the last time you cleaned the throttle body, specifically the IAC valve and port?

About that long post. Please try to separate things out into paragraphs. Everything all lumped together is somewhat difficult to read.

Never have cleaned it out. I got it to start this morning and got it half way back to work, and then it died again. I Bought a code scanner last night and I got three codes. P0101, P0171, and P0174. Still trying to get the definitions, and go from there??? My auto repair skills aren’t that great. Again I appreciate all the help.

Sorry for the incoherent, rambling post. It was a crappy day yesterday, and still had my Wife’s oh so understanding voice rattling around in my head. My writing skills are worse than my auto skills.

Thanks again!

P0101 - Mass Air Flow System Performance
P0171 - Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1
P0174 - Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2

I would take a look at the MAF sensor and see if it is dirty and/or somehow broken. Also, check for exhaust leaks that could be causing a false lean reading on the O2 sensors.

I visually looked at it after I got it closer to work, while waiting for a tow truck (had to have it towed 30 miles... OUCH!!!) Gonna do a check now it's at home. I have been looking at some threads thight might apply. Gonna just start checking the whole fuel system. Gonna start first around the trans. I read on one thread that that is a relay point for 12 volts going back to the fuel pump, and I couldnt hear it prime. Would you happen to remeber were that relay point might be?

I checked the fuel pump relay. When I check the top two slots of the fuse box were the relay plugs into it reads 11.5, then when I check the bottom two it reads 6V and fluctuates from 5.98, to 6.78. Not sure if this is normal or not. Gonna try and replace the relay. Then go from there. I know that it couldn’t be that easy. Not with my luck.

Supply +12V directly to the pump. You can do this by jumpering the relay. Have a look at the diagram on the relay to determine which pins to jumper. It should be pins that are cross wise from each other where the relay plugs in.

now just need to fined out why it bogs out when I dont let it warm up for a few before i take off. But at least she is running. Thanks for your help swartlkk! You have helped me out every time I need it. You, and this forum are Saviors!!
