Howdy folks! This is my friends 96 Blazer (130K miles). He just had the intake manifold replaced and new oil cooler lines put on. Then this noise started coming from his engine. After warmup his oil pressure goes down to about 15psi at idle. Its about 60psi when its cold. Anyhow any ideas what this noise is?

He changed the oil pump and nothing changed. Replaced the oil filter too.

 

hard to say based on video. could be rod knock.
That oil psi at idle is fine.

 

15psi at idle seems pretty low to me...

 

He has one bad bearing from the sound of it. He got coolant in oil, right? It runs smooth otherwise, right?

 

Smooth? Meh. I drove it today and it lost power from 0-20 mph. It felt like it would stall actually. The engine shakes a bit too. Like its not well balanced. But that COULD be normal for the 4.3L. Not sure. Acceleration is far below what I would think it should be.
He is on vacation this week so Im trying to help the poor fella out while he is out of town.

As for the coolant in the oil he said there was none. After this result I think there was.

 

Well it is 95% chance rod knock I found out. Im guessing the motor is trashed?
