Not trying to be funny, but the authoritys try to keep that info secret. There are vin numbers on body frame rear end trans and some luxery seats they dont want known. Secret to the extent of using ultraviolet ink that is invisible to the unnaided eye. Bottom of the windshield at front of dash is the accepted international location.

Dependant upon your unit being LH or RH drive, the VIN is usally stamped into the upper flange of the frame roughly 20cm rear of the front axle, however:this is not usually visible after the unit was assembled...In earlier GM products this was a certain location, dating back 75 years! The latest I have seen this on an GM unit was an 84 C-3500(domestic)and only after the front clip was removed!Unless the VIN tag was retained after shipping(had to be,or the unit is stolen!) that seems to be the only way to correctly ID your unit!
