Default Vin number on frame ?

Hello out there ! Anyone who Knows where to find the stamped vin number on the frame ? Its on a blazer 4door 1997, 4x4 and sold new in europe. I am the proud owner for more than fiften years, and now on the yearly inspection they have to identify the car in two locations , windsheild tag and frame ! Herre in Sweden we do rustprotect our cars, and Its a little diffucult to start searching without a clue...

USA built units, and units built for export to Canada, have the VIN on the dash, (windshield tag), driver door jamb, RPO sticker in the glove box, and on a white sticker under the hood, directly behind the distributor. Not sure what year GM started putting it on major body panels. I can assure you 98 did not, and 2004 does. What are the first 10 characters of the VIN? With a capable scan tool, you can check the VIN there also.

Hello Captain, if it isnt stamped on the frame my only option to pass is to do it myself and pay for an extra inspection wich is about $200 "for nothing" , maybe export vehicles have it stamped somewhere due to European regulations, i will check with the swedish dealer, and then maybe find a vin to show for the inspection station at no cost. Thank you any way and have a nice weekend !

Hej swedeblazer har du fått någon klarhet i var du kunde hitta chassinumret, Jag har samma problem på min 99a och på besiktningen hade dom uppgift om att det skulle finnas på ramen framför h bakhjul. men vi hittade inget där.

I took it in our language first, apolgize.

I have the same problem and the inspectioncrew had information that said it should be possible to find it on right side front of rearwheel but we did not find it there, so i got a month to clear out where to find the vin code on frame. Still i have not found it.

Did anyone figure this one out?

I have the same issue when trying to pass the government inspection in Sweden with my -97 Blazer LT.

If the number is not found during the annual inspection, the car won't pass.
Then you have to have the VIN number stamped on the frame AND a you need to do a "registreringsbesiktning" after.
You can stamp the VIN number yourself, and if you do it before the annual inspection, "registreringsbesiktning" won't be needed.
Stupid EU regulations...

I got some nice guys doing the "besiktningen", so they aborted the inspection when they couldn't find the VIN. Which they're not allowed to do, so there's no record of my car having been there. I.e, no need for "registreringsbesiktning"

Any tips on what tools to use to stamp the VIN onto the frame?

( This irks me though. There _has to_ be a VIN on the frame somewhere. Most likely in more than one place. It should just be the matter of finding it underneath all undercoating and paint )

So mainly clicked on this link because I'm in the middle of a build and have a 03 4 door blazer bare frame in my garage and I have yet to see anywhere on it where there is a vin stamped on it LOL I'll keep my eyes pealed while I'm working but I have not seen anywhere where there was something that looked like a vin code

I've researched it a bit more, and the case _might_ be that the main importer into Sweden was responsible for putting a VIN number on the frame. Meaning, the position might differ between different countries.

As for US vehicles, I _think_ there might be a placard on the top of the right frame-rail, just around where the rear axle would be. This spot would be inaccessible if there's a body on the vehicle though.
