chevy redesinged the injection unit on the newer vortecs so the one ypu replace will just be lines and the new on has the injectors on the ends of the lines

There is no visual difference between the CPI motors. They are all the same injection system wise. I believe you are comparing the CPI spider to the SCFI spider which is entirely different. There are differences between 96-01 and 02-05 injection systems.

i thought it was odd that they sent me one that looked totally diffrent then any of them that ive seen in any parts store. i thought maybe they sent me the spider off the CSFI motor insted of the CPI motor.

i got it in but i decided not to take pics because my momory card reader dont want to read my cards for my digital camera. but off the top of my head for a parts list for the next guy i used a 16mm wrench for the fuel lines (nut kit) 10mm both short and deep sockets. if i remember right the bracket for the throttle and cruise control uses a 8mm. a T30 torx bit and a T20-25 i cant remember wich one. if i remember correct the EGR valve was a 10 mm. the screw that holds the nut kit in place on the back of the intake was also a T30 if i remember correct as well as the vortec cover. that should be everything as far as a parts list. getting the nut kit off and the new one on was the worst part and took the longest.
