Good Morning,
So driving to work this morning two lights came on. I think one said "brake" like for the emergency brake maybe? and another light, maybe engine. I'm not positive...lol, it was 4 in the morning and I had traffic behind me.
Anyway, It appeared I had no throttle. My tach was dropping and I had no acceleration. I turned off the key and then tried to start it... It didn't grind or anything but apparently it was still running. I tapped the brakes different things and the lights went off and I regained throttle but.., It was idling around 1200 instead of 600. This all happened very quickly and some of the details are sketchy from my early morning experience.
When I got to work, I shut it off and restarted the engine. Still idling around 1200. I shut it off and checked the codes.
Now I have a p0442 evaporative emission (EVAP) system Small leak detected.
After all the things I've already replaced, and still having a small "bump" every so often, I'm wondering if I'm looking in the wrong direction for for what I've been assuming is an ignition issue...
Maybe it's time to throw in the hat...lol

P0442 is just saying it did the leak test for the evap emissions and it did not pass. This can be a loose gas cap or whatever. Never heard of it causing a running problem - just leaking small amount of gas vapor from your tank to atmosphere (you polluter you!).
Has your problem gone away yet?

I never had loss off power on either of the two so not sure about that.
