What to do?
Lanny! I have a welder. I've never used it and I don't know how. I got it from a friend of mine who was cleaning out his garage. Come up here and we can work on my '98 Jimmy and then you can weld to your heart's content!
Toby: sounds like a plan....loading-up the Blazer now, leaving in an hour......oh wait....forgot....I have to go to work Monday morning and the day after and the day after and ...etc.....
The point of this thead was that sometimes it is nice to hear "good" news instead of all "bad" for a change.
Of course now I need to change-out the cat....but the "good" new is that is an easy fix.

Lanny: I'm always happy that others' Blazers are running well. I'm happy that mine gives me many opportunities to learn about troubleshooting and repair.
You're welcome to drop by any time and try out the welder. I've never used it and have no idea how.

As for replacing the cat, what year is your truck? Is it one of the pre-cats in the Y-pipe of the newer trucks, or the main cat underneath? On my Blazer (96) the cat can be unbolted seperately from the Y-pipe and muffler. It's a b!%*h to get out though. I had to take mine out before I did the body lift, and there's not quite enough room between the body and frame crossmembers to snake it out. Good luck with the replacement, and I hope things keep running well for you in the future.
