What kind of oil is best on the transfer case 1999 Blazer ZR2
There is a tiny leak, more of a a weat of oil on the seal on the transfer case on my 1999 Blazer ZR2 so i am going to replace the seal where the driveshaft goes in on the transfer case?
So when replacing the seal i will need to replace the oil as well so i wonder what kind of oil is best to use and also how much oil does the transfer case take?
I get 45 percent off on Mobil oils so if Mobil oil is okay to use i will use the Mobil oil
The company where i ordered the seal was not sure of which seal i am supposed to use and told me that there is 2 differnt types of seal i can use so i bought both seals
Can you look at the picture of the seals i have bought and tell me which seal is correct for my 1999 Blazer ZR2?
Updated. I have checked a little and it looks like the largest seal with the boot (MC247) is for the MV236 transfer case which i am sure is the tranfer case in my car because of the 4 switch drive mode program (because of the Auto 4WD switch)
This is the large seal i received today This is the small seal i received today is for the 3 switch button transfer case which i am pretty sure use Dexron III oil
Updated:
1999 Blazer ZR2 use AC Delco Auto-Trac 2 oll if it have the Auto WD button switch (4 switch drive mode).
The amount of oil is 1,9 liter or 2 quarters with Auto-Trac 2 oil on the transfer case according to the owners manual
So for my 1999 Blazer ZR2 with the 4 button drive mode panel as shown on the picture below i am pretty sure that the transfer case is a NV236 and the correct fluid for the transfer case is AC Delco Auto-Trac 2
The transfer case takes 2 quarts of fluid from what i have read. The seal is the large "boot" seal MC247
I have not done the job yet but i am pretty sure that this is the correct way to do this job
4 button drive mode panel with Auto 4WD ID tag on NV236 transfer case AC Delco Auto Trac II fluid for NV236 transfer case MC247 "boot" seal for NV236 transfer case
