Default What tool ???

Hi guys... I need to replace my alternator on my 2003 Blazer 4.3 engine....just looked at it awhile ago at the belt tensioner and It has no square hole ! to insert a square drive to pull it back to take the belt off....What is the best way to get ahold of it to let the tension off????without tearing up the assembly/messing it up,etc... all tensioners I have ever seen had a square hole to insert a ratchet,3/8" extension,etc......Thanks for any help and recommendations!

Should be a square hole for a 3/8" ratchet, just about in the center of the pulley. never seen one with out it before. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_belt-tensioner-dayco-no-slack_19130004-p?vehicleIdFromReq=32050&isAllVehicle=false&vehicl eIdSearch=32050&searchTerm=89231&showTitle=# If it's not there, use a pry bar to move the pulley.

Yes there is a square hole as you said...I just couldn't see it looking straight down on the pulley when i first looked....my stupid mistake!

Also is the Remy(new, not reman) alternator pretty good one compared to AC Delco from Rock Auto???? best price I have found so far on the 105 amp ...The one on it now is the origional one Delphia and it is raising hell, noise wise, with only 96,000 miles! That junk from Auto Zone would probably last that long.....

Remy is not to be confused with Delco Remy, (they split a few years ago). You want good stuff, get a Delphi.

I scored a rebuilt Bosch unit for mine for $20 from local u pull it yard!!!!!!! it was obvious that this one was fairly new....sometimes u get lucky & can find good deals on alt & starters!!! Other than that I just use them for interior or body parts

Not necessarily, just not an AC Delco or Delphi anymore.
