Default What is this and why is it broken

Sorry for having to start a new thread, I recently bought a 2000 Chevy blazer LS and everything has worked great, but the other day the Heater Core went out and i finally got the dash off to find this mess. Not sure what it is, or the best method to fix it, or if this is the problem with my heating?

I also found 2 wires that weren't connected on a 4 connector spot, but i think should be, there were 2 of the 4 plugged in and it slipped my mine to mark the 2 that were plugged in, i'm defiantly learning a lot of bout my blazer as car mechanics.

That would be a broken blend door actuator arm and is the reason you have no heat. You should be able to fab something up to replace it fairly easy.

No clue on the wiring and plugs

So pretty good chance the Heater core is still good, since it looks new and no leaking?

I don't know anything about those 4 wires but it appears the former owner had a remote start/alarm at one time. The connection to the BCM (purple connector) is common for such.

I hate to quibble in your time of stress but you said the heater core went out. Most times when someone says that they mean it is leaking. SOMETIMES they mean it's plugged.
So your complaint is you had no heat? What conditions and symptoms, specifically?

And no.. that's not the blend door actuator. That item is right above the one to the broken arm

Looks like a vent gating actuator to me. It only matters to the next people that read this, you gotta fix it anyway. However now would be a good time to look at your actual blend door actuator cause it's a common fail.
Rockauto has pix of various actuators

When i started the car in the morning everything was fine, then I turned on the heater and I heard a sound come from the glove compartment area and I haven't had heat since.

Okay.. so you had air coming out of the vent you selected and the air never got warm and you could change vents previously. Does sound like blend door. But DO go to Rockauto and check the pix for the various parts.
Oh.. and check your profile / visitor messages

Thanks for all your help, is there any way to tell if its more them just the broken arm is broken, like if the blend door doesn't move or does?

Swing that broken arm. If it's moving something, its probably good...

Take the Blend door actuator off and check for broken pieces. See if you can move the shaft
