Ok. soI replaced the intake gasket, got timing right and now there is a sever engine knock. Engine ran good before the repair. YesterdayI got the timing right and heard the knock.I was so upset I called the local repair shop had them come get the truck and tow it. They looked it over, scanned itand said the the #5 cylinder is misfiring. They said the knock sounds very bad and it sounded bad to me.I just don't get it. All wires are hooked up correct, no tools left inside motor, &no coolant in oil.It was fine before the repair and allI did was remove the intakes. No heads or anything. The blazer is paid off, in very good shape, just did new ball joints. Everything else is almost perfect. I just don't have the cash for a new motor right now. What would you do? Any idea how much it's worh as is on ebay or something?

You may be able to get a motor from a junkyard that runs that might not be a ton. I would say that since blazers and their similars arent getting KBB prices on ebay in great or good condition that with a bad engine it will definetly knock the price down. Do you have something you could record the knock with and post it here. Maybe we can pinpoint something from it that may be cheap compared to a new engine.

Well Portcqb I was on my way to the shop to tow the truck back (with a strap illegally And just for kicksI wanted to show my buddy the knock. And sure enough it didn't knock at all.The shop heard it knock when they pulled it out of the shop and I heard it knock. SoI drove it home and ran ok. Has a very slight missfire. You can barely tell and now the engine light is off. I noticed those dam fuel linesare still leaking a little so I don't want to drive it Until I sunday when I can spend some time and try and get the seals to seat right. But last night and this morning I started it and heard a very slight almost like a lifter tap or sticky valve. It would get a lil faster up until about 1500rpms then disappear until it slowed. This blazer ran almost perfect until the FPR and Intake Gasket went. And unfortantly im so busy I put 57 miles on it in a month. I quess sitting actually does hurt.
