Default What's this???

This vent hose was ran up next to the trans fill/dipstick tube. I was checking it's condition and reached up and other end dropped down. It was just stuck up there. Where is it supposed to go?

Thanks

Vent tube and filter for the 4WD front axle actuator. The black plastic piece stuffed into the vacuum line, (in the first image) is the filter. Year, make, model and transfer case model will tell us where it goes.

It's a 2001 Chevy Blazer.

Trans was replaced in 2008, wondering if they forgot to plug this back in.

Do you think it goes to the trans or the transfer case?

Thanks

NP236 is a 4 button, Auto 4WD, case. The vent/filter for the front axle actuator is incorporated into the vacuum switch on the firewall,

(sorry, figured you had the 3 button case). The line dangling under your vehicle is the vent for the transfer case. You can see where the fitting attaches in this image: http://www.midwesttrans.com/Np236_TCGM033.jpg

Probably didn't get put back in when they replaced the transmission.

The front diff vent is on the radiator shroud.

Yup, the front diff vent/filter looks identical to the one for the transfer case.

Perfect, thank you very much.

Now I know where to put it back in. Then I'll do a transfer case fluid change.

Thanks guys

The NP236 uses a special transfer case fluid, NOT transmission fluid.

Available at GM dealers, ~$9 per quart, and you'll need just under 3 quarts.
