Whats the proper way to engage your 4wd without making grinding noises?
i know this is a stupid question but i hardly ever use my 4wd so i forgot how to properly engage it. can anyone tell me how to engage it properly? this way i can print this and keep it in my glove box...

2hi to 4hi can be shifted on the fly. Let up off the gas let engine revs come down and shift it.
4hi to 4lo, come to a stop, shift trans into neutral, shift t-case.
Personally I shift trans into neutral first every time.

X2 to neo: The reason,put it into 4wheel BEFORE you need it! I have seen SO many capable 4X4s stopped for just this reason! If you got stuck in 2wd and try to blast out in 4X4 you may just bury yourself deeper!

If the key is in the run position and the engine off then only the transfer case will shift into 4 Wheel. You need the engine on for the differential to engage because its engaged with vacuum.
As a general rule dont be going over 60 MPH and shift into 4HI. But if your going 60 MPH and need 4WD you probably shouldnt be doing 60....
