Default Wheel bearing? and Whirling noise?

Hey guys,

Hi from Kazakhstan... I am British, but working here for a couple of years

I am a new owner, and I picked up my 1999 Chevy Blazer LS model (4x4) on Friday, and im loving it so far

I have a few issues that I think may cause issues later on, so here it goes:

1) When I turn right, the car starts to vibrate and slightly judder. I suspect wheel bearing, but are there other tests I can do to confirm/deny CV joint?

2) I can hear a whirling noise from the centre of the truck, this seems to moan all the time (at start up, during a run, and when I have stopped and idling) - Its quite loud, and I can hear it over the engine when tick over. It is less easy to hear the noise when inside the cabin and driving.
Any ideas?

3) When I received the car, I have a blank metal sheet that appears to be where an interior light would be (middle of the ceiling) It doesnt have any wires sticking out. What could this have been? or what has been removed? and how easy is it to replace whatever was taken?

4) Does anyone have a technical manual for my model? I have the owners manual, but I would like to have the larger technical manual if possible?

Thanks for looking

Cheers,
Tim

jack up the truck and pull north, south, east, west and check for excessive play in the wheels. Although, the noise you describe makes me believe its a wheel bearing. To check for a cv, look at the boot for any cracks or holes. You will usually see a bunch of grease around the wheel well. It will aslo knock when turning.

Try to post a pic of the metal/ roof.

You don't need a manual, you're a member of blazer forum! Lol, welcome from iowa!
