I was told changing the EGR Valve will fix my car trouble.

I have a 1995 Chevy 4.3L 240 Vortec and I am not sure which one is the EGR valve.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The egr valve is on the front of the block just a bit to the right of of the alternator. It should be held in with 2 bolts and have an electrical connector on the top of it. Should look like the picture below though it may be black plastic instead of steel.

 

Is the egr valve in the same location in a 2004 blazer and if it is stuck open or closed will it send a specific code?
