i have a slight whining noise.... comin form the engine. cant figure but it climbs when i accelerate. could it be the alternator. or idler pulley

 

I bet it could be the powersteering pump. they start whining like that.

My 91 4.3 has always had a faint whine. Ive learned to ignore it.

 

That was far better audio than usual for the type.

I heard singing idler/tensioner pulley bearings.
Loosen belt and spin those and the AC pulley. If they sing and spin free like a skate bearing and have some lateral slop replace them soon.

 

Yeah my steering is crap and im deffinately planning on replacing those pullie now that its confirmed a good to replace. As far as steering goes if u heard it before im good to replace
