Default why this may have happened

I installed a CAI today and it definetly made my throttle more response and made my shifts seem better. The shifts im not really sure about im guessing torque increases make them better. The rpms stay steady during shifts and the rpms can go lower before downshifting. The only bad thing I noticed is my MPG dropped by about 1.5 MPG, I had a K&N dropin filter before. Is this CAI's filter not that good or is it just that my engine hasnt adjusted to the extra air yet.

Keep in mind that if you have installed a CAI, you are more than likely sucking in warmer air from the engine bay. Especially if it is a cheeper Ebay version without a heatshield. Also you probably are giving a little more throttle than usual and enjoying the extra kick! I bet once you get used to it, your mpg will come back to normal. I wouldn't expect any gain from just a CAI in mpg.

Just out of curiosity, why the high idle time? I always wondered this looking at your sig.

He's claiming he is using a Cold Air intake, Not a short RAM. So, the CAI should be pulling cooler air than a SRI.
But, to the op, What kind of CAI is this that you are using? Or is it a SRI?
Chances are, to be Completely honest with you.. You're gas mileage may have dropped because your foots on it more! People wonder why mileage sometimes goes down after intake/exhaust installation and usually it's because they're romping it more to hear/feel the difference

Every vehicle that i have owned, and currently own, I have all seen mass improvements on MPG with modifications like Intake/Full exhaust and even tune. (When of coarse i'm not shifting like dale jr)

Good luck, Let me know some answers to the questions I've asked

Im pretty sure im using less throttle, I have since pushed it see what it sounded like but my MPG readings were normal pedal. It is a CAI but I need to make the shield. I dought this is the issue though my work commute where I measured the MPG is like 3.5mi each way so at like 28 out it couldnt have been that warm in the engine bay. As for the high idle time the prior owner was elderly and walked the dog with the truck so it was basically idleing in drive.
