My go-to method any time I pull a dizzy off for anything that is not going to require me to spin the motor over once it's out (which is rare unless you're pulling the motor OUT), is to just mark which direction the rotor is pointing when the cap is pulled off. If you pull the cap off and it's pointing towards the front of the motor, spin the motor over a little either with the starter or just with a socket on the crank bolt and get it pointed rewards. Then just put a small mark or dot on the firewall with some sort of paint pen or marker, and you're set. Align it back up with that mark when you reinstall the distributor. Hasn't failed me yet. Got a better chance of mixing up the spark plug wires lol, which is even LESS of a concern if you have little labels on the wire ends

Default Replaced cap and rotor, now it misfires and back fires, runs like shhhh

So the last week or so, every time it rains, i get a no start condition... dries out for a little bit and then it'll fire right up... obviously i have a cracked cap... so this morning (kinda in the dark) i changed the cap and rotor... it fires right up and then proceeds to backfire and run real rough... the cel is flashing so im sure its misfiring 🤣💀 i placed the rotor in the same position... i mean the screw holes only let u put it one way or the other, right? I suppose its possible that one of my wires isnt all the way locked in... 🤷‍♂️ idfk... i had read about camshaft retard adjustment but i was under the impression on this 4.3 its non-adjustable... any help or thoughts are appreciated
